Brazilian national football team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar announced that Al Hilal star Neymar underwent a “successful” surgery on Thursday after sustaining a tear in the cruciate ligament and meniscus in his left knee.

Lasmar, who performed the operation, told the media: “The surgery was successful. We are very satisfied with the result.”

The duration of Neymar's absence has not been determined, but he needs many months to recover and play again after this injury.

The Seleção star suffered an injury on October 17, before the end of the first half of the match that his country lost to Uruguay 0-2 in Montevideo in the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

He collapsed after a collision with Uruguayan midfielder Nicolas de la Croce, and left on a stretcher crying.
