Al-Iraqiya Sports Channel is considered one of the channels affiliated with the Iraqi Media Network, which includes many diverse television channels in addition to radio stations. It was established and began launching its terrestrial broadcast in 2005 AD before launching satellite broadcast on the Nilesat satellite in the same year, to gain great popularity from the past. Al-Iraqiya Sports Channel had been broadcasting the events of the Iraqi Premier League championship since its launch, in cooperation with Al-Nahrain Channel, which was closed.
